Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist - (CRNA) Locum Tenens
StartDate: 10/06/2014Available Shifts: Varied Shift

The Veterans Affairs Medical Center in West Haven, CT seeks two Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists to provide coverage on a locum tenens basis while regular staff recruitment efforts are in progress. Shifts will be eight to twelve hours in length including days, nights, weekdays and weekends. The assignment will begin immediately upon the completion of credentialing and last for six months or until a permanent candidate can be identified.

A certified registered nurse anesthetist (locum tenens) administers anesthesia in surgeries as required by, or in the absence of, an anesthesiologist physician. A CRNA will look at patient history in a preoperative setting in order to determine an optimal course of action, choosing the techniques and drugs that best suit the patient's unique physiology and medical history. During surgery, it is the CRNAs job to administer anesthesia and manage the patient's reactions accordingly.

Required Qualifications
The CRNA should have active BLS, ACLS, and DEA certificates prior to the start date.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with the veteran population is considered a plus.
