Job Description: ABOUT THE AREA:
Located in the largest community in western Alaska and approximately 400 miles west of Anchorage, AK.

ABOUT THE GROUP:
The group administers a comprehensive health care delivery system for 58 rural communities in southwest Alaska.

ABOUT THE POSITION:
Serving the people of Southwestern Alaska, the Hospital is a 50-bed general acute care medical facility. Fully accredited by JCAHO, services include adult med/surg, pediatrics, obstetrics, emergency room, as well as outpatient family medicine clinics, pharmacy, lab, and imaging.

Position Summary:
The person in this position will work with the Training Center Instruction team in didactic, skills, and clinical Basic Training of Community Health Aide students to develop their primary, preventative and emergency care, knowledge and skills. Working with the Field Instruction Team, this person will provide Community Health Aides individual clinical follow-up instruction geared toward the student’s needs as well as to evaluate his/her Basic Training care, knowledge and skills. Working as a liaison between Basic Training education and Field implementation, this person will contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of Community Health Aide instruction from classroom student to village health care provider. Throughout this process this person will follow statewide Community Health Aide Training Curriculum, Manual, and Standards; travel to village clinics to assess student learning needs, progress and practice.

Position Qualifications:
Two (2) years of recent positive family practice experience. Teacher training and experience desirable, but not required.
Must have current licensure in State of Alaska
National Certification required
Must have a current DEA number
Current BLS, recommend ACLS and PALS
Able to use computers for word processing, emailing, accessing stored files; ability to operate digital camera, projector, and other equipment as it becomes available, or ability and willingness to learn.
Effective communication skills, cultural sensitivity, and ability to teach students in a supportive and respectful manner. Ability to function within a team training approach as both a member and a leader.
Management of students in both classroom and clinical environments; advisement of assigned Health Aide trainees.
