Ideal candidate – MSN – Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, PMHNP certification

• With 1+ years of experience in an acute care setting such as ER or crisis clinic and mental health/psych as NP and/RN
• California licensed preferred but will consider candidates who need to obtain
• Has a thorough and complete understanding of psychotropic meds, side effects & interactions

Your day:
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner provides mental health care seeing patients in the Emergency Department and the hospital.

• Seeing patients in the ER and hospital as a consultant. You should be comfortable with the interface between medical and psychiatric illnesses and be able to prescribe treatment accordingly.
• Evaluation and treatment of patients including but not limited to performing initial and follow up psychiatric assessments ; conduct in-depth interviews with patients to develop a plan of care; assists in the coordination of appropriate follow up care, referrals and case management; initiating, renewing and changing medications ; ordering routine laboratory, radiological, and diagnostic tests and providing initial interpretations of results; providing education and training to the patient and family as necessary; serve as a resource in evaluation and management of psychiatric disorders for primary care staff in the ED and other services.
• Provide clinical leadership for the Psychiatric consult service.
