Post-Anesthesia Care Unit - PACU Nurse - (PACU RN)
StartDate: ASAP Available Shifts: 12 N, 12 E Pay Rate: $32.39 *
Exclusive Order
Total # of beds in the unit: 25. Average daily census is: 40. Nurse to patient ratios 1:2 for all shifts. No Ancillary Staff. Patients range in age from Infants to Geriatrics. Staff works in 8 and 12 hour shifts. Required Certs: BLS, ACLS, PALS, Vent Mgmt. Patient Care Delivery System: Primary. Meds and drips administered: usual PACU meds. Documentation System: Computerized HealthConnect. Supplemental Staff required to float when necessary. Scrubs can be any color, RN provides their own scrubs.
The role of the post-anesthesia care unit nurse (PACU nurse) is to provide care for post-operative patients recovering from anesthesia, including general, regional, and local. The PACU RN treats inpatients and outpatients according to their needs, monitoring their vital signs to determine necessary care. (Postoperative nausea is a commonly treated symptom.) Due to the possibility of rapid changes in a patient’s physiological condition, PACU RNs are required to administer diligent care via monitoring, assessment, intervention, and continuous reassessment.
