This Labor and Delivery unit focuses on the studies of women and children, as well as provides numerous services designated for pregnant women and their families. This job will have you joining a top notch L&D team, composed of experts who provide excellent obstetrical care. There are approximately 8000 Births per Year at Brigham and Women's, (667 BPM). When caring for high acuity patients, the ideal candidate would need to be comfortable with providing prenatal services, delivery for mothers and babies, and routine/special gynecologic care. Labor and delivery (LD) nurses provide care to women and their newborns during the antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum and neonatal stages. They provide support and monitor vital signs of the mother and baby during birth and deal with any potential problems. They may also provide support and education to mothers and their families after giving birth. LD nurses are found in hospitals, clinics and physician offices, and maternity or birthing centers.
