Scope of Work: The OR Nurse is an individual who is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care. Services include but are not limited to: • Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates care based on age-specific components. • Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient transition through the continuum of care, patient and family education, patient self-management after discharge, and supporting factors that impact customer satisfaction. • Considers all characteristics of the individual, including age and life stages, state of health, race and culture, values, and previous experiences. • Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines • Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team. • Core elements of performance include knowledge and active participation in unit/program level quality improvement processes and initiatives as well as customer service programs. • The RN will be responsible for providing comprehensive peri-operative nursing care during a variety of surgical cases which include but are not limited to: ear, nose and throat (ENT), General surgery, GU, GI, Neuro, Vascular, Cardiac and Orthopedic procedures. RN may be assigned scrub or circulating duties. • Participation in appropriate continuing education activities as necessary to maintain licensure and acceptable levels of knowledge and technical skills Qualifications: Education: Must have a current active nursing license, a minimum of 2 years working experience in an Operating Room, a graduate of a professional school of nursing approved by the appropriate State accrediting agency and the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Licensure and Registration: Current, full and unrestricted license to practice Nursing in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. The candidate must maintain current registration in the State of licensure if this is a requirement for continuing active, current licensure. • Impaired Licensure: A candidate who has, or has ever had, any license(s) revoked, suspended, denied, restricted, limited, or issued/placed in a probationary status may be appointed only in accordance with regulations. English Language Proficiency: A candidate appointed to direct patient-care positions must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d). Physical Qualifications - This position requires a full range of physical activity, including lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching above the shoulder, use of fingers and both hands, walking, standing, repeated bending, ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously.
