WHAT YOU'LL DO
As an Instructional Laboratory Technician II - Nursing, you will provide instructional support to students in the Health Sciences Program and monitor and maintain the skills lab.

The current vacancy is a fulltime position (11 mos/yr, 40 hrs/week), working in the Nursing Program at Moorpark College.

Ventura County Community College District (VCCCD) is a public community college district serving residents throughout Ventura County. This recruitment is being conducted to establish a list of eligible candidates that will be used to fill district-wide, current and upcoming, temporary and regular vacancies for the duration of the list, not to exceed one year.

Representative Duties

Assist students individually or in small groups by reinforcing or following-up on instructions provided by the instructor, including explaining concepts, principles, and terminologies to students; provide technical assistance with clinical case scenarios and simulations in the lab. E

Prepare and maintain the skills lab for student training, ensuring that equipment is clean, organized, and in operating order; set up instructional media equipment, including smart carts and audiovisual equipment, for use in the lab; coordinate the overall maintenance, cleaning, and repair of the lab; maintain inventory of all lab supplies and equipment and reorder supplies as needed; maintain safety standards in the lab. Develop and implement remedial instruction for students in collaboration with faculty. E

Track, document, and report student progress in remediation plans. E

Advise students in the proper operation of instructional equipment, including low to high fidelity manikins and medical equipment. E

Assist the course instructor with proctoring tests. E

Prepare and duplicate instructional materials and perform a variety of general clerical duties such as typing, sorting, and filing documents. E

Meet regularly with faculty to plan student learning activities in the lab. E

Accompany students to community agencies for clinical remediation, including monthly senior screening, flu clinics, etc. E

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Any combination equivalent to: An associate degree in nursing and one year of experience as a registered nurse providing direct patient care in a clinical setting within the past three years.

Experience teaching in a clinical setting, community, or educational system and experience working with students in an organized setting is preferred

EXAMINATION AND SELECTION PROCESS:

This is an examination open to the public and current district employees seeking a promotional opportunity. To ensure consideration, please submit your application materials by September 13, 2020. The examination process will consist of a Technical Interview which will be weighted 100% of the final score. The examination process is subject to change as needs dictate. All communication regarding this process will be delivered via email.

TECHNICAL INTERVIEW:
Date Range: Monday, September 21, 2020 - Friday, September 25, 2020

PLEASE NOTE: The Technical Interview will be conducted remotely using Zoom or Skype. In order to participate in the interview, you must have access to a computer with a camera and microphone and be connected to the internet.

ELIGIBILITY LIST:
Upon completion of the examination, the eligibility list will be compiled by combining the final examination score with applicable seniority and veteran's credits, if any. The candidates will be ranked according to their total score on the eligibility list. Certification will be made from the highest three ranks of the eligibility list. This eligibility list will be used to fill current vacancies for up to one year from the date of the technical interview.

PROBATIONARY PERIOD:
All appointments made from eligibility lists for initial appointment or for promotion, with certain exceptions, shall be probationary for a period of six (6) months or one hundred thirty (130) days of paid service, whichever is longer. Classified management, police, and designated executive classifications shall be probationary for a period of one (1) year of paid service from initial appointment or promotion.
