About our Client: Our client is the third largest full service clinical diagnostic laboratory in the United States providing testing and related service to physician’s offices, clinics & hospitals. Position: COVID Lab Assistant
Location: Detroit Area
Shift: Monday-Friday 9-5:30pm

Job Details

  • Duties may include but are not necessarily limited to the following:

    • Data entry into a laboratory system to place orders
    • Locate, retrieve, and transport specimens as needed
    • Prepare shipping and manifest
    • Generate, distribute, and monitor worksheets and pending reports
    • Map samples promptly after testing is completed
    • Store samples, capped or tightly covered, with parafilm in designated storage areas, with
    utmost consideration to maintaining specimen integrity, safety, easy retrieval, and
    organization
    • Provide assistance to Lab Techs in any area when necessary
    • Remove and/or discard expired samples from storage area as required
    • Maintain a safe and clean workspace at all times
    • Adhere to Personal Protective Equipment Compliance Procedure
    • Comply with both corporate and department policies and procedures
    • Escalate any/all issues or questions through appropriate channels
    • Attend department trainings and meetings and interacts in two way communication to assist in process improvement
    • Other duties as assigned

    EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:

    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
    • Good communication skills
    • Attention to detail, motivated to find and correct errors with data entry
    • Proficient typing skills
    • Familiar with sample requirements, test requests, and medical terminology preferred

    Perferred Qualifications:

    • Excellent interaction skills both in person and by phone
    • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently
