Job Description

As the Practice Manager, you are responsible for the day-to-day operations of assigned clinical units; manage non-provider staff (medical assistants, medical office coordinators, and registration and reception staff); ensure appropriate staffing/coverage levels. You will maintain Tier 1 boards; hold self and staff accountable for use of problem-solving sheets and regular contributions to suggestion system as well as other Lean practices. Maintain training levels for self and staff; ensure new staff members are oriented during their 90-day orientation period. The Practice Manager will create an effective management relationship with Chief and Service Line Director to establish joint ownership of department. Collaborate with MDs, peers and staff to develop service delivery improvements.

Strong verbal and written communications skills required for dealing with physicians and staff.

Required Knowledge & Skills:

  • · Demonstrated success with continuous improvement; experience working with Lean principles preferred.
  • · Strong interpersonal skills required; provide leadership in the development of goals, creation of plans, and the execution of strategies.
  • · Demonstrated success with Word and Excel skills.
  • · Experience in budget management.
  • · Proven ability to generate quality management reports and documents which clearly and concisely communicate information to physicians and management.
  • · Working knowledge of employment practices and applicable regulatory requirements of certification agencies such as JC, CLIA, OSHA and other agencies that interact with physician offices.
  • · Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization may exist.
  • · Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • · Must be able to reasonably make appropriate judgment in communications and actions with patients, physicians, other associates, outside agencies, and vendors.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree; Business Administration or Healthcare Administration preferred


Experience 3-5 years of hands on experience in management of physician practice staff and operations. Multi-site or multi-practice management experience preferred
