Work Schedule:
Typically Monday-Friday, Dayshift (40 hours/week), but schedules may vary depending upon the needs of the Pharmacy
Specific Tasks:
The Pharmacist shall provide medical skill and knowledge In compliance with established concepts, principals and standards of administration and nursing for patients ranging from newborns to geriatrics. Primary workload Is a result of appointments scheduled through the MTPs central appointment system, to Include walk-ins and telephone consults. Workload also Includes Inpatients as well as patients referred to off base specialties. The Pharmacist Is Involved In the evaluation and treatment of emergent, urgent, and non-emergent patients. The patient population Includes active duty military, their dependents, retirees, their dependents, and other authorized Government employees. The Pharmacist shall not recommend patients consult a specific practitioner or specific practice and must attend and participate In clinic staff meetings and professional activities as directed. The Pharmacist actual clinical activity will be a function of the Commander/Commanding outcomes clinical privileging process and the overall demand for primary care. The Pharmacist shall adhere to the policies/standards of the Air Force Medical Service In meeting or exceeding established Air Force standards for access, Preventive Health Assessment Individual Medical Record (PIMR) and Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS) measures. The Pharmacist will .be required to consult with other Pharmacists for continuation of care. The Pharmacist will practice within the guidelines set by the credentialing office of the MTF and the Medical Director.
  • The Pharmacist shall seek and maintain Interpersonal relationships with clients/families and co-workers which contribute to mission accomplishment.
  • The Pharmacist shall respond appropriately to clinical emergencies.
  • The Pharmacist shall be cognizant of patient and staff safety through safety awareness, proper Infection control and promotion of clean, orderly clinic environment. Recognizes reports and corrects potential safety hazards.
  • The Pharmacist In partnership with the military staff be assigned to a medical disaster/contingency team and participate In monthly training sessions or scheduled mass casualty exercises held at the MTF.
  • The Pharmacist shall perform administrative duties that may Include monthly peer review, maintaining statistical records of his or her clinical workload, participating In medical education programs, and participating In quality Improvement functions and other duties as prescribed by the Flight Commander.
  • The Pharmacist's productivity Is expected to be comparable to that of other comparable positions assigned to the same position and authorized the same scope of care.
  • The Pharmacist shall prepare all documentation to meet or exceed established standards of the MTF to Include but not limited to: timeliness, legibility, accuracy, content, and signature. Only MTF and Air Force approved abbreviations can be used In the documentation of care In the health care record.
  • The Pharmacist shall not recommend to the patient that he/she consult a specific practitioner or use a specific practice.
  • The Pharmacist shall treat patient lists, no matter how developed, as privileged information. Lists and/or names of patients shall not be disclosed to or revealed In anyway for any use outside the MTF without prior written permission by the Chief of Hospital Services.
  • The Pharmacist shall respect and maintain the basic rights of patients, demonstrating concern for personal dignity and human relationships. Pharmacist receiving complaints validated by the Quality Assurance Person (QAP) and Chief of the Medical Staff shall be subject to counsellng and,depending on the nature and severity of the complaint, separation from performing services under this contract.
  • The Pharmacist shall only release medical Information obtained during the course of this contract to other MTF staff Involved In the care and treatment of that individual patient.
  • The Pharmacist shall maintain open and professional communication with members of the MTF. Complaints validated by the QAP (and Chief of Medical Staff If applicable) shall be reported In writing to the Contracting Officer Representative (COR) for action. Fallure of the contractor to correct validated complaints raised by the MTF staff and the contracting Officer (CO) will be considered a failure to perform.Contractor shall ensure contract providers maintain open and professional communication with members of the MTF. Complaints validated by the QAP and Chief of Medical Staff, shall be reported In writing to the COR for action.   • Pharmacist shall prepare all documentation to meet or exceed established standards of the MTF to lndude but not limited to timeliness,leglblllty, accuracy, content and signature. Only MTF and Air Force approved abbreviations may be used In documentation of care In the health care record. Healthcare Worker shall ensure complete patient Identifying Information Is on all documentation that Is to become part of a health care record.
  • Pharmacist shall be expected to attend staff meetings as required by the Family Health Flight Commander and Medical Director.
  • Pharmacist wlll be required to attend Squadron or Group commander Calls as directed.

Minimum Qualifications:
* Education: Minimum B.S. in Pharmacy; Masters or PharmD preferred; completion of a clinical pharmacy residency or fellowshp desired.
* Experience: Minimum 12 months full-time experience practicing as a Clinical Pharmacist within the last 3 years
* Licensure: Must have an active, unrestricted Pharmacy license from any state.
* Life Support Certification: Possess a current American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider certification. (May obtain upon acceptance, prior to start.)
