Description

Position is responsible for development and implementation of a comprehensive, integrated organizational clinical education for clinical disciplines and selected professional development programs in alignment with organizational needs and strategic objectives. In collaboration with clinical leadership, coordinates the assessment, design, delivery and evaluation of all clinical educational activities. A key objective is prioritizing educational needs to ensure clinical staff competency requirements are met.


Requirements

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Nursing. Master's degree in nursing or related field required.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: Current New Mexico registered nurse license, ANCC certification in Nursing Continuing Education/Staff development preferred. BLS certification issued through American Heart Association required. BLS instructor certification highly recommended.

  • Ability to communicate with staff at all levels within an organization
  • Oral and written presentation skills, including PowerPoint and Excel
  • Ability to analyze and respond to educational needs
  • Ability to establish performance objectives, track and report outcomes
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with accountability for deadlines
  • Ability to develop and managing operating budgets
  • Ability to develop effective professional relationships, including relationships with external entities

EXPERIENCE: Minimumof three years' experience as a clinical educator in a health care system required. Managerial experience preferred.

NATURE OF SUPERVISION:

-Responsible to: Reports to: Executive Director of Nursing

Supervises: Clinical Educators and support staff. Matrix responsibility to clinical educators in other departments (i.e. surgical services and medical group).

Works in clean, well-lighted, ventilated smoke-free environment. Subject to stressful professional relationships. May involve some travel. Requires knowledge of general safety standards.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Subject to stressful professional relationships. Working hours vary, with flexibility due to unexpected changes in schedule and emergencies. Requires the ability to speak, listen, develop and communicate written materials.Frequent prolonged periods of sitting. Extensive use of hands for writing and use of computer. Moderate physical effort (able to lift/carry up to 15 pounds).
