Job Description
Overview
Our Competency Intervention Specialist’s (CIS) primary responsibility is providing competency restoration to groups. The CIS also provides individual solution-focused treatment, skills-building groups, and psychoeducational groups. This position will also maintain accountability for services provided though appropriate documentation and participation in Quality Improvement program.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counseling or related field from an accredited college or university
Experience
- Coursework and professional experience that indicates knowledge of mental health counseling, group and individual psychotherapy, assessment and treatment of major mental disorders, crisis intervention, and mental health consultation
Licenses/Certifications
- None required
Responsibilities
- Provides competency restoration individual and group treatment.
- Provides psychoeducational and skills building groups.
- Provides cognitive rehabilitation activities.
- Documents in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Participates in Quality Improvement activities.
- Must be able to apply principles of critical thinking to a variety of practical and emergent situations and accurately follow standardized procedures that may call for deviations.
- Must be able to apply sound judgment beyond a specific set of instructions and apply knowledge to different factual situations.
- Must be alert at all times; pay close attention to details.
- Must be able to work under stress on a regular or continuous basis.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
