Job Description

Provide clinical, administrative, and supervisory support to residents under the direction of the Director of Nursing

Assigns duties to ancillary nursing personnel based on resident needs, available staff and unit needs.

Supervises and evaluates work performance in terms of resident care, staff relations and efficiency of nursing service.

Oversees the nursing care unit, administers medications and treatments in accordance with physician's orders.

Makes rounds and maintains a safe environment for residents and staff.

Provides assistance, guidance and supervision to nursing team as required, uses professional communication skills to initiate disciplinary action according to Marianist Residence policies and procedures.

Promotes individual staff development.

Communicates with residents, staff, ancillary care personnel and visitors with dignity, respect and fairness.

Documents resident care observations and activities according to professional standards and procedures.

Assists other nurses, nurse practitioner and physicians with resident assessments, examinations and treatments.

Informs physician's, in a timely manner, of changes in their patient's health status.

Assists in emergency situations under the direction of the nurse practitioner or physician.

Maintains appropriate confidentiality regarding resident, staff and business functions of the Marianist Residence.

Performs basic medical procedures that you have received training for. (i.e. lab draws, dressing changes, catheter care, injections, special feedings, IV therapy, and others)

Assists in all activities related to improvement of nursing care.

Supervises routine maintenance of nursing supply levels


Qualifications and Job Info

1-2 years of recent experience

Requires graduation from an accredited school of vocational nuing with current license to practice as an VN in the State of Texas.

Demonstrate the highest level of professionalism when interacting with patients, families, physicians, and hospital staff members.
