Job Description
PhyNet Dermatology, a national leader in medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology is seeking medical assistants to join our Lake Washington Dermatology practice.
The triage nurse assists the providers with patient care by demonstrating courteous and efficient professional nursing skills to properly assess patient needs, determine the next course of action, communicate to the provider, and then convey provider’s instructions to the patient.
The nurse must communicate both verbally and in writing in a friendly, polite, tactful and professional manner to patients, providers and other staff members. Maintain strict patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA standards.
Essential duties and Responsibilities:
As assigned but not limited to the following
- Open and close triage que at appropriate times (as dictated by management)
- Answer and respond to incoming phone calls, checking both the refill and patient que for messages
- Gather information such as symptoms and current medical conditions
- Determine whether a patient needs care, when that care should be given and with whom
- Document both her (his ) advice and the patients response
- Compose a detailed telephone encounter or action containing all pertinent information as conveyed by the patient
- Refill medications based on provider specific protocols and document in EMR
- Check patient portal and respond to incoming messages
- Assist with prescription prior authorizations
- Schedule appointments within SSSC and with outside providers as dictated by providers
- Report lab and pathology results to patient
- Consult with other staff and/or providers as needed to properly address patient issues or requests
Skills:
- Able to speak English clearly and make self understood
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Able to listen and interpret subtle intonations as tone of voice, hesitations or incomplete responses
- Correct spelling and grammar
- Document correctly in electronic medical records
- Able to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others
- Able to prioritize tasks, understand providers instructions and know when to seek additional information or advice
- Able to work independently and in a team environment
- Able to use practice management to schedule patients and review patient lab and pathology results.
Requirements:
- LPN or RN license
- Current CPR certification
