Your Role with the Company:
Carry out the nursing duties related to midwifery including gynecological exams, preconception care, prenatal care, labor and delivery care, and other tasks
Teaches women about different types of care available and encourages them to enhance their pregnancy by being involved
Advocates birth education, natural childbirth, and the participation of the entire family. Relies on technology only when medically necessary
Writes prescriptions as needed
Works with OB/GYN team member closely with physicians and other staff to ensure healthy pregnancies and deliveries
Provides emotional and social support, which can reduce the length of labor, the need for pain medication, the likelihood for use of forceps or other operative devices during delivery, or the possibility of cesarean delivery
Leads the medical care of assigned pregnant patients under the supervision of a physician
Educates patients about elements of mother–baby bonding, protecting from inadequate heat, overstimulation, noisy/brightly lit environments, breast feeding, cuddling/hugging and recognizing signs of infant pain/discomfort
Background Profile:
Must have 5 years combined nursing and or CNM experience
Must be a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Nursing and completion of Masters of Science in Nursing/Midwifery from a Certified Midwifery Training Program
Certification from the American Midwifery Certification Board, Indiana Registered Nursing License, Indiana Certified Nurse Midwife License, Indiana APN Prescriptive Authority, Indiana CSR Prescriptive Authority, DEA, BLS, and NRP OH Licenses may also be required in some instances
