Mid-level Provider with recent Pediatric Experience – IHS Kyle Health Center, Kyle, SD

Place of Performance: IHS Kyle Health Center, 1000 Health Ctr Rd, Kyle, SD 57752

Period of Performance: August 2019 – December 2019

Schedule: Monday – Friday; 8:00 am – 4:30 pm except for the first Friday of the month, the first week schedule will be 4, 10 hour shifts. No Nights or Call

Qualifications:

• LICENSURE/REGISTRATI0N current active and unrestricted license in at least one of the 50 United States or US territories.
• Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants shall be Nationally Certified by their respective National Professional Board and State Licensed.
• FORMAL EDUCATION. The provider must show proof of graduation from an accredited school of their profession.
• Maintain certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association
• Have the ability to pass a government criminal background check

Job Description:

• Provides on-site Outpatient Midlevel medical services to beneficiary patients tha The Kyle Health Center located on the Pine Ridge Reservation is an ambulatory care center with outpatient services. The outpatient department is staffed with 14.5 providers (2 Podiatrist, 1 Family Practice, 2 Pediatricians, 1 Physician Assistant, 1 Nurse Practitioner, 1 CNMW part time, 1 NP for women, 2.5 Dentist, 1 Hygienist, 1 Psych NP, 1 Optometrist -vacant, ), 7 nurses, 3 pharmacist, 1 laboratory technician, 2 Medical Technologist and 2 radiology technician. In addition, the Health Center offers dental services, with five operatory, mental health services, public health nurse, HIV Clinic, SANE services, and fitness center.

• Due to the volume of patients, outpatient Midlevel Provider must be able to provide high quality, effective and efficient care to patients. Provider shall see up to 18 patients per day
• The incumbent must possess specialized knowledge of the concepts, principles and practices of Internal Medicine or General Medicine, Pediatrics or Family Practice, or Obstetrics and Gynecology such as is obtained through the successful completion of a course of study leading to the Accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Program and the successful completion of post graduate training. Completion of Board Certification,
• The Outpatient Midlevel Provider's actual clinical duties will be in accordance with his/her credentialed privileges.
• Primary duty will be to provide outpatient care. Examines and diagnoses the health related conditions of individuals requesting care, refers individuals for consultation when appropriate, prescribes and carries out, or directs others in carrying out, appropriate therapy in conformance with approved Clinical Privileges. Educates individuals in the nature of health related conditions, recommended therapy and in the general promotion of health and prevention of disease. Documents consultations in the patient's health care record.
• lmplements, evaluates and is consulted on outpatient procedures and instructions in accordance to their clinical privileges.
• Establishes inter-personal and intra-departmental relationships lo enhance optimal patient care, demonstrates competent and effective oral and written communication.
• Utilizes RPMS/EHR computer software/program for entering and signing of medical orders such as laboratory studies, and directly signing and dating radiological studies, etc
• Obtains necessary information on patients seen in the Outpatient Department, such as medical records, xray films and reports, and pathology slides and reports and documents pertinent normal and abnormal test results in the patient's medical record.
• Maintains familiarity and complies with hospital antiseptic policies and procedures. Maintain familiarity and comply with all Federal, State, Indian Health Service, CMS regulations, and departmental regulation and requirements.
• Ensures a safe work environment and employee sale work habits
• REFERRALS AND CONSULTS: The provider shall follow IHS Purchased Referred Care regulations and policies when arranging fora referral or consult. The Outpatient Midlevel Provider shall be required to consult with other specialty practitioners for consultative opinions and continuation of care. The provider shall inform patients of the required referral or consult by indicating the specialty involved.
• PRESCRIPTIONS: The provider shall use and follow the IHS formulary for prescriptions for all patients. The formulary list is approved and maintained by the IHS Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee. Any drug not listed on the formulary must be approved by the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
