Job Description
Overview
According to professional standards of care, performs a variety of advanced nursing / physician assistant functions. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the ages of the patients served.Highly functioning acute care nurse practitioner or PA who can manage critically ill surgical patients on ECMO, LVADs, ventilators, multiple pressors, and CRRT. The critical thinking for managing a wide range of cardiovascular emergencies is imperative when staffing as the sole provider on night shift and competency in placing central lines, arterial lines, and chest tubes is preferred.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Current Certification as APN or Physician�s Assistant Current Licensure in the state of Illinois as an APN or Physician�s Assistant Licensed by the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration and State of Illinois for prescribing of narcotics, if applicable Current Basic Life Support certification and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Two years of cardiovascular patient care experience. Two years of critical care patient management experience Other skills/knowledge Work requires the interpersonal skills necessary to educate family and significant others on care as well as provide emotional support, deal effectively with providers, residents, medical students, and hospital or office staff, provide training and education to professional and community.
