The Hospital opened its doors in 1956. The original hospital structure had a total square footage of 11,720 square feet. Today, the total current square footage of the Hospital is 21,495 square feet.

About the POSITION:

The position is full-time position.

3 providers. The schedule is agreed on by the providers who work it and is led by our ED Doc. Our department has been comprised of 4 employed providers. 2 Nurse Practitioners and 2 physicians. A few months ago, one of our physicians relocated to Des Moines with their family which left this opening. The 3 remaining providers have been covering along with a reliable locum who lives nearby.

We are an organization of people guided by our mission, who have made a habit of cutting against the grain and being successful at it for 2 primary reasons; 1) our focus is service to community (it is non-negotiable), and 2) we have outstanding, talented, team members who take ownership in our organization and its future sustainability. In addition to ED services, we offer acute, observation and skilled nursing on our inpatient unit, a robust and relevant array of outpatients and community service, including owned and operated Rural health clinics. We are in the process of adding another in a nearby community in our service area. We are a financially prosperous organization boasting 8 consecutive years finishing our fiscal year with a positive bottom-line margin. Our current year is progressing to be the 9th.

In FY 20 our ED served 300 patients per month. The organization’s service area population is roughly 16,000 people.

The selected candidate will be joining a medical staff made up of 3 family medicine physicians, 2 family medicine nurse practitioners, 1 family medicine physician assistant, 2 ED nurse practitioners, 1 ED physician, 1 full-time podiatrist, 1 full-time general surgeon, 1 full-time CRNA, all employed team members. We contract directly with our orthopedic surgeon and oncologist.

We have 4 treatment rooms, one which is set up as a “safe” room. The Hospital, like other rural hospitals, does have our instances when detox or mental health patients are brought to us through law enforcement or on their own accord. We felt it prudent to establish this 4th room as such during our recent $24 million expansion project.
