Job Duties and Functions for the Family Nurse Practitioner

• Providing Primary Care Services to patients across the lifespan
• Perform Therapeutic procedures such as; injections, immunizations, suturing, wound care etc.
• Histories and Physical examinations
• Develop, Implement and manage patient care plans and assist with continuity of care.
• Review and Educate patients on examination results and care plans
• Collaborate in a team environment with other providers as well as ancillary staff members

Requirements for the Family Nurse Practitioner

• M.S. degree from an accredited school of nursing
• Nationally recognized certification in area of practice
• Board certification
• Current license in the State of Connecticut or ability to obtain license in the state
• Valid Federal and State Controlled Substance License
• Demonstrated ability to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served
• Knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span as pertains to scope of practice
