Nurse Practitioner (PNP) - Pediatric job in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

The position is currently at TPC Virginia Beach but may be transferred to Portsmouth or other surrounding clinics.

The Nurse Practitioner (PNP) - Pediatric job is within the military medical system and is a civilian position. Civilian and military personnel work together in the extensive military medical system. The hospitals and medical clinics provide services to the active duty military service members, military retirees, and their families and provide a full range of medical services.

Nurse Practitioner (PNP) - Pediatric Job Overview:

  • Obtain patient health and developmental history for patients by utilizing evidenced-based clinical practice guidelines and engage patients actively in their health care.
  • Perform and record a health appraisal including physical assessment, evaluation by engaging in proactive population based health management. In addition provide regular surveillance to patient's need for preventive services and management of chronic disease leveraging information technology decision support tools.
  • Differentiate between normal findings and those that require consultation and/or referral.
  • Diagnose patients with common acute conditions, illnesses or minor trauma within legally accepted protocols, Nurse Practice Acts, or in accordance with BUMEDINST.
  • Treat patients with common acute conditions, illnesses or minor trauma and recommended preventive services within accepted protocols, Nurse Practice Acts, in collaboration with a physician.
  • Request x-rays and laboratory tests as deemed necessary.
  • Formulate a health care plan for clinic patients emphasizing self-care responsibility through the participation of the patient, family, physician and other health care professionals.
  • Collaborate and integrate with members of the team to achieve optimal care for the patients in the Home Port model.
  • Identify resources and coordinate referrals for patients and families requiring further evaluation and services.
  • Analyze the results of the health care plan, modify the health care plan as needed, and implement and participate in follow-up.

Nurse Practitioner (PNP) - Pediatric Job Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Nursing
  • Graduate from a CCNE or ACEN accredited program
  • PNP certification (ANCC or NBPNA/P)
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted nursing license
  • PALS
  • BLS
  • 1 year as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in an outpatient or hospital based setting within the past two years
