Advanced Practice RN – Outpatient Psychiatry Clinic

Part-Time to Full-time - (it can be both onsite and off-site depending on candidate's needs), Independent Contract Worker

GENERAL SUMMARY

AwarePsych (Caplan & Associates), is an established psychiatric practice that offers a solid foundation of medication management, in addition to evidence based mind-body practices for our patients.

We bring a new level of awareness to psychiatric diagnosis and prescription management. When we do prescribe psychiatric medication, we do so according to the highest ethical standards with total regard for overall health and well-being. During our sessions, we introduce meditation, mindfulness and body awareness practices to regulate the central nervous system to enhance the experience of mental and physical wellness. We strive to go beyond just symptom relief and help to build a foundation for wellness during medication management sessions.

We continuously improve our methods to better help our patients bring awareness to the body, as well as the mind, through biofeedback, somatic work, and meditation/mindfulness. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

  • Provides individualized psychiatric medical care to patients in the clinic setting which includes collection of relevant patient history, physical and/or mental health assessment, evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment.
  • Psychiatry Clinic Assignment: Provides psychiatric health services, education, counselling, and emotional support.
  • Demonstrates the ability to use meditation to improve mental wellness and how to use somatic (body interventions) to shift people from fight or flight/collapse and into a connected, parasympathetic state of relaxation. These practices not only improve mental wellness, but they add significant value to your services and commitment to the wellness of your patients.
  • Demonstrates age specific competencies in the provision of care.
  • Orders necessary diagnostic tests relevant to patient condition and utilizes results to determine appropriate treatment for the patient.
  • Completes timely, thorough documentation of the patient visit in the electronic medical record.
  • Orders pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments indicated in management of the acute illness or health condition.
  • Responds to onsite emergencies and provides prompt, and appropriate care until EMS arrives.
  • Provides relevant education instructions to the patient/family related to the presenting illness or health condition and need for follow-up.
  • Consults with Physician and/or Therapists as needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Ability to enjoy own mindfulness and meditation practices and know how those practices can improve lives through personal experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff.
  • Ability to see patients while taking on referrals to fill available time on schedule
  • Partner with Psychiatrist to achieve growth objectives
  • Participate in internal training programs and be open to learning additional methodologies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to promote quality and safe patient care.
  • Ability to identify and address the age specific needs of the patients served.
  • Ability to work autonomously while recognizing when to consult with other members of the health care team
  • Complies with all Arizona statutes and regulations related to Nurse Practitioners
  • Ability to network independently with existing and potential referring providers to build clientele.
  • Must be an excellent communicator with an optimistic can-do attitude

REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB:

  • Master’s Degree in nursing with previous clinical experience in a health care setting; 5 years’ experience preferred; 3 years’ experience required.
  • Must be licensed as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner in the State of Arizona.
  • For Psychiatry Clinic assignment: ANCC certification (or eligible to take exam) as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner required
  • Previous experience using an electronic medical record, preferred
  • Must have current BLS certification.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Sedentary to light work, occasionally having to exert up to 20 pounds of force.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

This work is subject to inside environmental conditions such as typical office or administrative work. Office and furniture complete with utilities, email, work cell phone and answering service will be provided.
