Seeking nurse Director of Surgical Services

Join a 147-bed facility committed and dedicated to serving the entire Tri-Cities Region. The facility has earned many awards for the quality of its services, such as recognition as a Top Performer on Key Quality Measures by The Joint Commission, as well as the Gold Plus Achievement for both Stroke Care and Health Failure by the American Heart Association. This opportunity is located outside of Richmond, VA and the area offers a diverse population given all it has to offer. Not too far from a US Army headquarters there are a lot of young adults and families locally thanks to this. Over the last 15+ years the town has shifted from older buildings, to newer and a bit more modern and the infrastructure has followed that too!

Job Summary

The Director Surgical Services Department leads the perioperative team by focusing on safe patient care while effectively managing operations. The Director Surgical Services has 24/7 responsibility for their departments.

Primary Responsibilities -

  • Coaches subordinates providing feedback; constructive critique of work; facilitates individual development plan; and documents their job performance
  • Effectively communicates departmental, organization and industry information to staff
  • Facilitates evidence based employee engagement practices
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates an ongoing surgical services program
  • Supports new program strategies and/or program enhancements which would expand patient services

Candidates for this role will need to have their BSN, although Masters (in nursing, business or healthcare administration) are all great. To be considered you will need at least 3+ years in a managerial / director level role within a hospital. CNOR or CSSM are strongly preferred, although not required.
