Certified Medical Assistant SARP (Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Program) Naval Base Point Loma, San Diego, CA

**4.3. Tour of Duty. The HCWs shall provide full time services Saturday through Sunday between the hours of 0700 and 2000. HCW will be scheduled for an 8.5 hour shift to include an uncompensated 0.5 hour meal break. The HCWs shall each be on duty for 80 hours every two weeks, except during periods of approved leave and holidays. **


1. Site of Service. The Contractor shall provide personnel for services in support of the Naval Medical
Center, San Diego, CA. Services shall be provided at the Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Program,
located on the Naval Base Point Loma, San Diego, CA.
3. Qualifications. The healthcare workers (HCWs) shall possess and maintain the minimum qualifications
stated in Section C of the basic contract.
C.8.5.1. CERTIFIED MEDICAL ASSISTANT (CMA)
C.8.5.1.1. Possess a high school diploma or GED certificate.
C.8.5.1.2. Be a graduate from a medical assistant training program accredited by Commission on
Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), OR the Accrediting Bureau of Health
Education Schools (ABHES) of the American Medical Technologists, OR a formal medical services training
program of the United States Armed Forces, OR other formal program as specified in the position
specific Task Order.
C.8.5.1.3. Possess either:
C.8.5.1.3.1. Current certification as a medical assistant by the American Association of Medical
Assistants OR registration by the American Medical Technologists, OR
C.8.5.1.3.2. Successful performance as a Medical Assistant within the preceding six months performing
the duties of a medical assistant relevant to the Task Order OR possess other certification as specific in
the Task Order.
4.3. Tour of Duty. The HCWs shall provide full time services Saturday through Sunday between the
hours of 0700 and 2000. HCW will be scheduled for an 8.5 hour shift to include an uncompensated 0.5
hour meal break. The HCWs shall each be on duty for 80 hours every two weeks, except during periods
of approved leave and holidays. In no instance will the HCWs be required to provide services (on-site
service plus approved leave and holidays) in excess of 80 hours each per 2 week period. Weekday shifts,
weekends and the days of observance of Federal holidays shall be rotated with other Government
Medical Assistants. For weekend service the HCW shall work one weekend per month (Saturday and/or
Sunday). The Government anticipates scheduling each HCW to work on the day of observance of Federal
holidays an approximately twice a year. The specific schedule will be published 1 month in advance by
the Government. At the mutual agreement of the Contactor and the Government, alternative schedules
may be implemented such as a compressed work schedule.
4.5. The HCWs shall accrue 8 hours of personal leave (annual plus sick) at the end of each two-week pay
period. The HCW shall be subject to leave approval in accordance with Section C of the basic contract.
5. Duties. As assigned, each HCW shall perform the applicable duties given in Section C of the basic
contract.
C.10.4.1.1. Prepare exam rooms prior to patient's arrival.
C.10.4.1.2. Obtain patient's medical record following appropriate procedures.
C.10.4.1.3. Check patient's vital signs, to include temperature, respiration, pulse, weight and blood
pressure.
C.10.4.1.4. Obtain and document patient's current medical history, drug history, chief complaints,
allergies and vital signs on the correct Standard Form before patient is in the exam room.
C.10.4.1.5. Assist the provider as needed during exams.
C.10.4.1.6. Perform diagnostic procedures when ordered, to include EKGs, urine dip sticks, phlebotomy,
etc.
C.10.4.1.7. Transport patients to other clinical areas as needed.
C.10.4.1.8. Check each chart for the provider's signature, stamp, and each patient's diagnosis prior to
returning the chart to Health Records.
C.10.4.1.9. After a physician has verified the medicine and dosage, the HCW shall administer medication
to patients.
C.10.4.1.10. Obtain lab and x-ray results.
C.10.4.1.11. Maintain exam room stock levels and perform routine maintenance of exam rooms, to
include dusting, cleaning wash basins, etc.
C.10.4.1.12. Complete lab and x-ray requisitions in accordance with clinic policies.
C.10.4.1.13. Enter demographic data into the computer upon patient check-in; enter diagnosis and
departing time when patient is released.
C.10.4.1.14. Answer telephone and transcribe accurate messages.
C.10.4.1.15. Ensure that any broken or unsafe equipment is removed from the clinic in a timely manner
and notify appropriate personnel.
C.10.4.1.16. Assist with patient flow and give direct patient care as directed.
C.10.4.1.17. Operate the following medical equipment, as directed, such as Automatic Blood Pressure
Monitor, Hand Held Nebulizer, EKG Machine (12 lead), Electronic Thermometer, IV infusion pump (Setup
only), Tynpanometer.
