Job Description

The Assistant Professor is responsible for teaching and evaluating learners in the Nursing Programs. The Assistant Professor develops, implements, and evaluates the nursing program on an ongoing basis. This position participates in advising learners, curriculum development, program evaluations, teaching in the various settings either didactic, clinical, simulation, or skills lab, evaluation of learner achievement, and other matters as assigned in accordance with the mission, core values, and purposes of the Program. The Assistant Professor functions as a team member within the nursing faculty.

Develop and modify curriculum in coordination with committees.

  • Teach courses in a specific field.
  • Advise and mentor students.

Qualifications

 Completes faculty orientation, including the online and distance modules;
 Monitors student performance in accordance with course outcomes;
 Engages with learners’ in problem solving, information delivery, patient care, and aspects of the nursing education process;
 Assists with resolution specific to study problems;
 Evaluates learners’ potential for successful achievement in their course;
 Manages experiential learning;
 Completes clinical, lab, or didactic assignment rubrics, and does so within a reasonable time from the actual activity;
 Engages in shared decision making when in faculty or nursing committee meetings;
 Maintains current knowledge in the areas of nursing practice;
 Maintains accurate attendance and performance records of learners, and submits required reports according to published deadlines;
 Maintains proficiency in online delivery of nursing education;
 Maintains open communication with learners;
 Attends nursing faculty meetings and other faculty activities as required;
 Serves on nursing committees and may serve on College committees as needed;
 May complete clinical or lab evaluations on other faculty, as assigned.
 Performs work at the above named DDC/Experiential Learning Hub.
 Uses a computer, a telephone, and other tools and equipment to produce outputs and to communicate.
 Travels as required to attend meetings and to participate in training.

  • Graduate degree with a major in Nursing-MSN
  • Current, active unencumbered RN or APRN license or multi state privilege to practice nursing.
  • Experience in teaching in a nursing program is preferred.
