Acute Stroke Unit / Epilepsy Monitoring Unit

Ratios: 3:1 or 2:1

The Acute Stroke Unit and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit in UTSW's William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital (CUH) opened early this year to serve the growing need for advanced specialized care for progressive care neurological patients in both North Texas and our neighboring states. With a patient-centric design and its’ state-of-the-art facilities, the new Acute Stroke Unit and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit enhance this team’s ability to collaborate effectively and to deliver the best outcomes for neurological progressive care patients.

The Registered Nurse Progressive Care (RN) II is an experienced neurological nurse who provides excellent patent care in both of our neuro progressive care settings. There are unique opportunities to grow professionally – both as a learner and educator – that make these departments ideal for those seeking to elevate their nursing practice.

Experience and Education
________________________________________
One (1) year of RN experience.
Graduate of an approved/accredited nursing program either by a governmental authority, nursing board, or a licensing authority which has jurisdiction over approval/accreditation of nursing programs (Texas BON 217.1).
Must be able to read, write and communicate in English.

Specialty areas may have increased experience requirements as dictated by unit or standard of care.
Current Texas (or BNE Compact State) license required

Required Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA)
ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support, course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA
BSN preferred
Professional certification in a nursing organization is preferred.
