Job Description

PROGRAM MANAGER EPILEPSY

The Program Manager for Epilepsy engages in programmatic planning and implementation strategies; coordinates and collaborates patient care between clinic and hospital personnel in regards to patient education and throughput; facilitates collaboration with providers to ensure all aspects of care are to program specifications and communicated accordingly. This role facilitates increased program growth by ensuring compliance with all accreditation bodies for both inpatient and outpatient services. BSN RN, Tx License, BLS required.

Experience and Education


Three (3) – Five (5) years of experience in the field of Nursing.

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing

Current Nursing licensure in the State of Texas

Job Duties


  1. Assure continuous compliance with all relevant CMS, State, accreditory and other regulatory affiliates and standards at all times. Assess and monitor all hospital and department policies, procedures, and activities for compliance with regulatory, accreditation, licensure, and professional standards as it relates to the program. Evaluates appropriate corrective action in partnership with relevant management to ensure that appropriate documentation is completed and maintained in accordance with regulations. Recommend and, as appropriate, implement educational efforts for orientation and in-services as needed.
  2. Participates in strategic planning activities for the service line, completes assigned goals as part of the process; demonstrates support for and participates as requested in achieving UTSW and the programs service line goals.
  3. Leads and directs achievement in the provision of quality care to the programs patient specific patient population. Participates in the development of appropriate policies and procedures required for the provision of effective and efficient care of programs patient population. Analyzes data and coordinates implementation of practice changes as needed. In conjunction with Clinical Education and Department Managers, coordinates education and verifies competence of staff performing care within the program patient population.
  4. Coordinates and facilitates in collaboration with the education department and medical director the provision of educational opportunities for staff, physicians, patients, external providers of care, and the community. Identifies and pursues opportunities to provide information and/or services to the community to promote UT Southwestern and this patient specific population and Program. Identifies relevant areas for nursing research, initiates projects and participates on research team outcomes.
  5. Works closely with leadership to assure accurate and timely documentation, outcome reports for interpretation, and presents data along with patient satisfaction data, to management team and staff with recommendations for areas to improve. Drafts policies and procedures as necessary to meet standards and objectives and presents them to the management team for approval. Serves as liaison for the program and is active in coordinating and presenting data to outside quality improvement groups/activities and/or educational opportunities.
  6. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Work requires independent work, initiative and skills to adapt quickly to changes in work requirements and assignments.

    Working Conditions


    Work is performed primarily in general office area. Heavy physical effort (lift/carry up to 50 lbs.): prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/ walking; lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers patients.
