House Supervisor Nurse - (Supervisor RN)
StartDate: ASAP Available Shifts: 12 D/N Pay Rate: $33.04 *
Licensure/Certifications/Education/Skill Requirement(s):
Supervision
Accountable to Team Leader, Unit Principal, or RN for all work performance and professional development
Minimum Education RN graduated from an accredited nursing program
Current license in the State of California with a passing score of national standards
Minimum Experience Prior experience at staff position desired.
Skill: Administrative -Ability to deal effectively with many people
-Must be able to prioritize, organize, and coordinate patient care
Physical Demands -Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking
-Lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers patient
-Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching
Working Conditions -Regularly exposed to the risk of bloodborne diseases
-Contact with patients under wide variety of circumstances
-Exposed to unpleasant elements (accidents, injuries and illness)
-Subject to varying and unpredictable situations
-Handles emergency or crisis situations
-May perform emergency care
-Occasionally subjected to irregular hours
-Occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries
Facility Job Description:
1.Complies with hospital, department and unit standards, including but not limited to safety, CPR, infection control, quality management, environmental, confidentiality, and patient care.
2.Performs assessment/data collection.
a.Performs physical assessment.
b.Performs on-going assessment of patients and patient care area.
3.Formulates goal directed plan of care based on patient outcomes.
a.Initiates, individualizes, and modifies Standard of Care.
b.Collaborates with other services.
c.Plans discharge/transfers.
4.Implements care based on department and hospital standards.
a.Follows established protocols and procedures.
5.Evaluates effectiveness of care.
6.Identifies patient/significant other learning needs and demonstrates measures to meet these.
7.Delegates to appropriate patient care team members.
8.Demonstrates applied knowledge when caring for selected patient populations including care appropriate to the age of patients served on the unit.
9.Demonstrates competency in selected skills including, but not limited to:
a.Coordinating/evaluating admission/bed control to all areas.
b.Coordinating staffing of patient care areas.
c.Performing patient triage.
d.Performing physical assessment, IV therapy, and GI/GU intubation.
e.Administering PO, IM, SQ, and topical medications.
f.Measuring vital signs, intake and output.
g.Using equipment such as IV infusion pump, glucometer, restraints and computer.
10.Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for own professional practice in regards to:
a.Attendance, punctuality, and confidentiality.
b.Positive public relation image and working relationships.
c.Obtaining necessary knowledge and skill needed to maintain competence.
d.Completing all mandatory requirements, including annual safety films, CPR, infection control and annual physical.
11.Participates in the development and attainment of team, department and hospital goals including:
a.Attending and participating in team meetings.
b.Volunteering or accepting assignment for projects.
c.Mission, vision and team ground rules.
12.Demonstrates documentation on patient care records and unit forms.
13.Administers and controls narcotics.
14.Performs other related duties as assigned
A house supervisor is a nurse responsible for overseeing the nursing unit staff and assisting with administrative duties. House supervisor nurses have a variety of duties, including:
- Coordinate patient services and nursing staff levels
- Prepare reports
- Enforce policies
- Maintain patient and personnel satisfaction. These experienced nurses also collaborate with other hospital staff members in hopes of establishing and maintaining a consistent standard of service and care.
