Job Description

DirectShifts is Seeking a Program Registered Nurse (RN) - Bilingual (Spanish) preferred RN to Work in Grand Rapids, MI .This is a Full Time position. My client is very motivated to speak with all interested candidates.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) on staff, if applicable;
  • Assess the physical, medical, and emotional needs of refugees, immigrants, asylees to develop a plan of care and wellness for each patient;
  • Develop and maintain accurate medical documentation, while ensuring there is a medical summary for each case record;
  • Ensure the safety of all patients in care;
  • Coordinate the patient’s medical care through the period of services, while also facilitating health assessments or specialized medical treatment;
  • Provide medical resources, information and consultation to parents, foster parents, case managers, therapist, and partnering service providers;
  • Initiate and assist with coordinating medical referrals to community medical providers;
  • Partner with case managers in maintaining medical and dental records to include but not limited to immunization records, health appraisal forms, medical histories on child and biological parents, and monitoring medical passports to ensure completion through consultation with staff, facilitating physical exams;
  • Work collaboratively with the Medical Clerk and Administrative role within the program;
  • Serve as a resource and medical consultant to staff regarding medical conditions and medications in relationship to clients and families being served;
  • Partner with counseling support staff, therapist, and psychiatrist regarding medications to receive and respond to calls for medication refills in a timely manner;
  • Serve as a liaison for within the medical community;
  • Serve as a consultant and resource related to OSHA standards, bloodborne pathogens and tuberculosis;
  • Completed other duties as assigned.
Qualification:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or related field of study from an accredited college;
  • Active Licensure as a Nurse in for the state of the work location (RN);
  • At least three (3) years of experience working with families and children as a Nurse or equivalent role, strongly preferred;
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Must have an ability to provide excellent and compassionate medical service;
  • Ability to work independently and exercise a high level of confidentiality;
  • Must be reliable with time sensitive deadlines and tasks;
  • Work well under pressure and adaptable to change;
  • Computer and typing skills sufficient to perform essential job functions;
  • Active motor vehicle license and maintain a reliable automobile with adequate insurance coverage;
  • Pass a criminal history screen, including state and local child protection agency registries;
  • Subscription to and integration of the agency Statement of Faith, Mission Statement, and Cultural Diversity Commitment.
