Description

Primarily responsible for care given to a group of clients which includes assessment of patient breastfeeding needs, education and support to all breastfeeding mothers and their families, and providing documentation and communication to the physician and nursing staff. Acts as resource to nursing staff with lactation problems.



Requirements

EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing required. BSN degree preferred.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: Current New Mexico RN license. BLS Required. Completion of Certified Lactation course preferred.

SKILLS: Must be able to pass skills competency checklist applicable to area. Must be able to read, speak and write English fluently.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of two years OB experience.

NATURE OF SUPERVISION:

-Responsible to: Manager, Women's Services

ENVIRONMENT:

- Bloodborne pathogen B

Works flexible hours based on patient need.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to handle emergency/crisis situations. Has knowledge of and uses good body mechanics. Frequently lifts, positions, and pushes equipment. Hearing and visual acuity within normal or correctable limits. Manual dexterity and fine motor coordination required.
