Our Quality Assurance Nurse (QA Nurse) has responsibility for and coordination of the clinical activities of the Quality Assurance Program ensure compliance with the NCCHC standard of practice for a Continuous Quality Improvement Program (J-A-06); company policies and procedures; clinical standards of practice; and applicable State and Federal laws. Assists staff to achieve the efficient and effective delivery of patient care resulting in positive patient outcomes. Implements clinical standards, education, and fulfillment of contractual obligations while maintaining confidentiality of PHI in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

Education:

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing

Experience:

  • Two (2) or more years clinical nursing experience preferred
  • Previous corrections experience preferred

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Currently licensed in the state within which services is provided
  • Current CPR and AED Basic Life Support Certification
  1. Establishing or maintaining a multidisciplinary quality improvement committee that meets at least quarterly and designs quality improvement.
  2. Serving as chairperson of the CQI committee and preside over the CQI meetings.
  3. Preparing audit reports for submission to the Health Services Administrator and Regional Vice President.
  4. Preparing periodic internal CQI reports (including access to care, intake screening, health assessment, chronic care, nurse sick call, infirmary care, pharmacy services, diagnostic services, dental care, mental health care, emergency care, hospitalizations, critiques of disaster drills, sentinel events, environmental inspections, patient grievances and infection control, etc.).
  5. Supervising the collection and presentation of data for quality assurance applications.
  6. Assisting HSA’s with the development of two process and two outcome studies annually, in conjunction with Mental Health, meeting NCCHC standards.
  7. Developing in concert with HSA corrective action plans for individuals and operational areas that are identified for improvement and assess effectiveness of such corrective action.
  8. Maximizing staff participation and feedback in all quality assurance processes.
  9. Addressing suicide prevention within the Quality Assurance Program in concert with Mental Health providers and staff (to include morbidity and mortality review and process improvements to prevent similar events from recurring).
  10. Ensuring the CQI program includes physician clinical chart reviews.
  11. Assisting the HSA’s with maintenance of the standards folders used in the NCCHC accreditation process, insuring periodic updates are completed as needed.
  12. Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance.
  13. Must be able to apply principles of critical thinking to a variety of practical and emergent situations and accurately follow standardized procedures that may call for deviations.
  14. Must be able to apply sound judgment beyond a specific set of instructions and apply knowledge to different factual situations.
  15. Must be alert at all times; pay close attention to details.
  16. Must be able to work under stress on a regular or continuous basis.
  17. Post orders, if applicable, per site contract.
  18. Perform other duties as assigned.
