(Archived) Medical Specialties Service Line Director

Job Description

The Service Line Director will provide the overall leadership to and management of the medical specialties service line, including Dermatology, Endocrinology, Nephrology, Neurology, Pulmonology, Rheumatology, and Weight and Wellness. You will be responsible for directing the clinical, financial, and administrative functions of the service. The Service Line Director will establish and maintain a favorable professional relationship with the Chief of Medical Specialties to accomplish clinical, quality, and service objectives. The Service Line Director will supervise the practice managers of the medical specialties in achieving all objectives within the service line.

Service Line Director will directly supervise all the practice managers and be responsible for hiring, coaching, performance management, skill development, and retention of these direct reports. S/he will ensure appropriate communication to staff across practice areas and will champion process improvement (Lean) practices in accordance with our strategic plans.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree require
  • MSN/MBA/MHA or related master’s degree preferred

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated operations and financial management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing/implementing performance improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to effectively plan and facilitate organized and productive meetings/workgroups.
  • Ability to work independently and resolve complex issues with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to manage concurrent projects with competing priorities and aggressive deadlines.
  • Strong aptitude for effectively influencing others at all organizational levels in project-related situations.
  • Possess strong analytic skills in order to manipulate, interpret and utilize data for process improvement.
  • Strong PC skills including proficiency in use of Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Project.
  • Understands context of assignments and tasks and able to be flexible and adaptable to changing roles & priorities.

Required: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization may exist. Must be able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. You must be able to reasonably make appropriate judgment in communications and actions with patients, physicians, other associates, outside agencies, and vendors.
