Additional Unit Information: Critical Care
CCU Unit willl float to ICU/CSU/ICSU/Tele
Total # of beds in the unit: 32. Nurse to patient ratios 1:1, 1:2 for all shifts. No Ancillary Staff. Type of Patient: Adult. Staff works in 12 hour shifts. Unit patient population: Coronary Artery Disease patients, ie MI, Chest Pain, Angina, post-cardiac cath, CHF, COPD, and over-flow of open-heart patients, Post EPS, ICD placement. Special Unit Procedures that could cause ethical issues: Blood products/transfusions. Documentation System: Electronic documentation. Manual forms during downtime

Critical care nurses (CCU RNs) assist in the treatment of acutely ill patients with life-threatening conditions, in settings requiring continuous vigilance, complex assessment, and high-intensity therapies and interventions. Working with the patients and their families, ICU RNs strive to create healing, humane and caring environments while also focusing on patient advocacy, working in settings such as intensive care units and cardiac care units, where patients require complex assessment, high-intensity therapies and interventions, and continuous nursing vigilance.

Required Qualifications
1. Swans experience
2. EKG and arrhythmia knowledge.
3. BLS, ACLS
4. Critical Care Training Course (4-6 weeks) required.
5. Must have a 3 or 4 on checklist for Hemodynamic Monitoring (PAP, PCW, CVP,SVR, PVR, CO, CI). .
