Job Description

• Post-operative nurses provide intensive care to patients as they awaken from anesthesia after a surgical procedure.
• Responsible for all aspects of patient care after they've had surgery
• Monitor vital signs, administer medication for pain and nausea, update and educate the family, and transfer to the inpatient unit or discharge depending on the acuity of the patient.
• Monitor surgical site itself for potential bleeding or other pathological indications
• Log all findings in patient files
• Answer patient questions and ensure patient comfort
• Monitor patients for condition changes, reporting any changes to physician
• Perform intervention duties during post-operative emergencies

Qualifications and Job Info

• 1-2 years of acute clinical care nursing experience
• Current BLS and ACLS
• Must have current state license
