Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Room Job Overview:

  • Demonstrate competency to administer Intravenous Medications within established MTF policies and protocols.

  • Receive phone calls and/or patients presented in the EMD; triage patients to appropriate level of care within the military treatment facility.

  • Participate in temporary assignment measures to include temporary assumption of shift Charge Nurse responsibilities. "Temporary" assumption of duties occurs, for example, when the assigned Charge Nurse leaves the clinical unit for a meeting, or for a meal break.

  • Complete annual training requirements for the Command Respirator Fitness Testing Program

  • Formulate and carry out a goal directed plan of care which based on determined nursing diagnosis and patient outcomes and which is prioritized according to patient needs and available resources including time, personnel, equipment, and supplies.

  • Evaluate effectiveness of self-care given by all health team members, and contribution of systems, environment, and instrumentation in progressing patient toward outcomes.

  • Provide treatment and discharge instructions upon patient release.

  • Perform assessment/data collection in an ongoing and systematic manner, focusing on physiological, psychological, and cognitive status.

  • Provide a safe and clean environment for each patient.

  • Identify patient/significant other learning needs and implement appropriate measures to meet identified needs.

  • Assist in planning, provide clinical direction and provide instruction to LPNs/LVNs, nursing assistants and ancillary personnel.

  • Communicate with patients utilizing Secure Messaging to improve communication and facilitate care through non-traditional means.

Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Room Job Qualifications:

  • BLS
  • Computer Competency
  • Graduation from an accredited registered nurse program
  • RN Licensure: current unrestricted license, any U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Minimum of 1 year of full-time clinical experience within the last 2 years as a RN.
