Registered Nurse (RN) - ER Job Overview:
- Provide emergency nursing care for emergent (Level 1), urgent (Level 2), non-urgent (Level 3, 4, 5) and patients coming to the Emergency Department.
- Facilitate the achievement of optimal outcomes in relation to clinical care, quality and cost effectiveness.
- Administer medications, wound care, and numerous other personalized interventions.
- Direct and supervise care provide by other healthcare professionals.
- Accountable for making patient care assignments based on the scope of practice and skill level of assigned personnel.
- Recognize adverse signs and symptoms and quickly react in emergency situations.
- Recognize conditions that require isolation and ensure universal precautions are used in all patient encounters.
- Provides emergency nursing care for emergency (Level 1), urgent (Level 2), non-urgent (Level 3, 4, 5) patients coming to the Emergency Department.
- Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for all patients including newborns, children, adolescents, adults and the elderly; disabled to include visually and hearing impaired; and individuals of varying ethnic and religious backgrounds to include those who do not speak or understand English.
- Knowledge of a variety of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment, the desired effects, side effects, and complications of their use.
- Assumes full responsibility for assigned patients and ancillary personnel.
- Delegates tasks, directs emergency room technicians, specialty technicians, and provides counseling, guidance, and patient education.
- Recognizes medical emergencies and responds appropriately. Initiates CPR if required.
Registered Nurse (RN) - ER Qualifications:
- Graduate from a school accredited by NLNAC or CCNE
- Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- BLS
- ACLS
- PALS
- Trauma Nurse Core Course (TCNN)
- Minimum three (3) years of RN experience with at least 2 years in an ER
RN license - active, current, unrestricted. Any U.S. state license honored.
