Role in the Company:
Maintain the high standards of professional nursing services in the management of an entire unit on a given shift
Special emphasis is placed on instruction, supervision and coordination of nursing personnel and all related functions of a unit
Works under the general supervision of the Director or Assistant Director of Nursing Services with considerable latitude permitted for the exercise of independent judgment in planning and carrying out assigned duties
Performs daily rounds on unit, visiting every resident to assess the needs of resident and staff performance
Holds staff meetings to address concerns, needs, and inform of pertinent happenings
Evaluates the quality/quantity of care rendered on unit by preparing subordinate evaluations based on monitoring performance, progress in improvement, and development of weak areas
Day, Evening or Night Shift as established in order to meet resident care demand
Other duties assigned
Profile Background:
Graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered four year college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, AND One (1) year of experience as a Registered Professional Nurse, which shall have been in a supervisory position; or
Graduation from an approved three (3) year school of professional nursing AND two (2) years of experience as a Registered Professional Nurse, and (1) year of which shall have been in a supervisory position; or
Graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered two (2) year college with an Associate Degree in Nursing AND three (3) years of experience as a Registered Professional Nurse, one (1) year of which shall have been in a supervisory position; or
An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined within the limits of 1, 2, and 3 above.
Eligibility for a license issued by the State of New York to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse; Possession of the license at the date of hire.
Thorough knowledge of professional nursing techniques, their relation to medical and surgical practices, and skill in their application
Good knowledge of clinical division management, unit management, and supply distribution practices
Ability to supervise the administration of therapeutic measures prescribed, secure the cooperation of others, plan and supervise the work of others and understand and carry out technical, oral, and written instructions
