Job Description

The Inpatient Oncology Unit RN will use assessment skills to provide highly specialized nursing care to terminally ill and convalescing oncology patients who require close observation to identify subtle changes in their condition.

Minimum Qualifications: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)

  • Shall have a diploma, Associates or Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or University.
  • Possess a minimum of one (1) year of experience within the last two (2) years as an RN working in an oncology setting administering chemotherapy agents.
  • Possess and maintain certification as a Chemotherapy Provider by the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Be able clearly and effectively communicate with all patients and other healthcare providers.
  • Possess knowledge of the pharmacology of most commonly used emergency drugs, anticipated results, usual dosages, and their location in the crash cart.
