Job Description

We are searching for a Registered Nurse to develope and maintain an evidence-based wide infection control and compliance program. The Infection Control RN will create a population/community level infection surveillance plan for Covid-19 and other population-level infectious disease epidemics. You will also establish professional forums to both track and coordinate regarding infectious disease of concern. Below is a brief outline of some of the essential duties you will perform.

Infection Control Essential Job Duties:

  • Will be required to establish and implement infection control orientation programs, alongside the departmental leaders, throughout the facility.
  • Will be required to establish standard methods of care, utilizing evidence-based practice and best practice standards.
  • Responsible for policies and procedures within the organization related to infection control.
  • Ensures compliance with state and federal requirements and accreditation bodies.
  • Participates as an integral team member, collaborating with various departments and colleagues, including Clinical Leadership, Operations, Corporate Compliance/Risk Management, Human Resources, Quality, and others as needed.
  • Will be responsible for all pre-employment testing and vaccination processes, annual N95/TB/Influenza testing and/or vaccinations, and the management of potential blood exposures, employee illnesses and disease outbreaks.
  • Responsible for coordinating the infection control program which includes surveillance, development of reports, and analysis of data.

Community Infection Testing, Control, Reporting and Surveillance

  • In coordination with the Covid-19 Task Force Team, develop and implement evolving strategy for an ongoing testing program, to include both population level testing as well as strategic testing of high-risk populations in all areas.
  • Establish and sustain a working relationship with third party testing laboratories, the county health department, ADHS, hospitals and other vested entities.
  • Provide up-to-date information and educations to employees, the public and the media.
  • Organize community testing events, including all preplanning (development of agreements), day of testing and follow-up.
  • Ensure that all persons tested are informed of their result in a timely and effective manner utilizing all resources possible, including public safety officers.
  • Maintain current knowledge of evolving Covid-19 testing technologies.
  • Adapt the above to any future community infectious disease concerns or epidemics.

Establish Infectious Disease Forums

  • Establish and maintain regular internal infectious disease data dashboards focused on selected HEDIS and non-HEDIS measures.
  • Establish and maintain regular internal Infectious Disease Committee that regularly analyzes, discusses, and strategizes around internal dashboards and available external infectious disease data.
  • Establish and maintain regular infectious disease advisory committee that regularly utilizes public health infectious disease data originating from both US and Sonora, Mexico

· Required Education, Experience, Certificates & Licenses:

· Current RN license (Associate or bachelor’s program).

· Masters in public health, Masters in Epidemiology, or other relevant public health or healthcare degree.

  • Advanced education and/or certification in infection control principles and practice highly desirable.
  • Advanced education and experience in community health, public health, epidemiology and/or data analysis desirable.
  • Demonstrate problem solving skills including planning and establishing priorities.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills and strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Outstanding organizational skills.
  • Ability to utilize Electronic Medical Records and data base management.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Must be proficient and have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Valid Fingerprint Clearance Card.
