Locations: San Diego, CA
Shift: Mon. - Fri. 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Job Description

  • Performs Infection Control surveillance, consultation and risk assessments and promotes quality outcomes.
  • Assists in the development and evaluation of clinical guidelines, policies and procedures relevant to the Infection Control programs.
  • Proficiently engages staff in rounds to evaluate integration of Infection Control practices in all clinical areas.
  • Participates in the organization and performance of Infection Control educational activities.
  • Contributes to the creation of and presents accurate Infection Prevention and Control data analytics with recommendations and reports to the Infection Control Committee, Quality Management and others as required
  • Functions proficiently in data management and analysis in areas related to the assigned roles and responsibilities.
  • Contributes to the formulation of Infection Control outcomes for groups of patients, staff and the organization
  • Assists in the application of epidemiologic principles and statistical methods, including risk stratification, to analyze trends and risk factors and design and evaluate prevention and control strategies.
  • Collaborates with the Infection Control team to develop and coordinate strategies with nursing leadership, the chief of Infectious Disease and other services to evaluate and manage complex events and unexpected situations such as exposures, outbreaks and environmental emergencies.
  • Provides consultation in planning construction and renovation projects that could impact patient care utilizing risk assessment criteria in consultation with the infectious diseases section.

Qualifications and Job Info

  • Bachelors of Science in Nursing
  • Minimum level of experience
  • 1 year experience as an Infection Control Preventionist
  • 5 years in healthcare setting
  • 5 years of escalating leadership role
  • Must have California state nursing license
  • Specialized training in a process improvement and performance excellence frameworks.
  • Certification as CIC or relevant training preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
