Registered Nurse (RN) - Occupational Health in Honolulu, Hawaii.

The RN position is a civilian position providing services within the extensive military medical system, which provides services to the military community. Civilian and military personnel work together in the hospitals and clinics.

Registered Nurse (RN) - Occupational Health Position Overview:

  • Assist staff with the daily operation of the clinic, to include working the front desk, answering phones, performing T-Cons and intake of scheduled/walk-in patients Assist providers with maintaining patient treatment rooms, coordinating lab tests and follow-on treatment.

  • Perform vital signs, PFTs, hearing/vision screening, immunizations, EKGs, and lab procedures, etc.
  • Conduct a variety of diagnostic tests and to understand normal values to get provider assistance when necessary.
  • Perform direct care using knowledge of safety hazards; diseases and immunizations; regulatory guidelines to all who report for care in the OMS.
  • Complete appropriate patient information. Instruct patients in completing forms. Enters patient care information in appropriate databases to chart, track and confirm exam requirements/completion.
  • Perform various pulmonary ventilation treatments such as administration of oxygen nebulizer treatments, and peak flow measures.
  • Provide instructions to patient regarding splints, ice packs, crutches, etc.
  • Review all tests for abnormalities prior to assembling health records. Bring noted abnormalities to the attention of reviewing physician and take action as instructed.
  • Assists with the preparation of slides, handouts, minutes, agendas, briefings for meetings as directed.
  • Serves as a practical nurse performing patient care and nursing administrative duties for outpatients in accordance with established policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines.
  • Performs a variety of diagnostic procedures; sets up procedure room and equipment; provides individualized patient teaching on a preventative healthcare and health maintenance.
  • Prepares and administers prescribed medications by oral, sublingual, intramuscular, intradermal, subcutaneous, topical, dermal and inhalation routes.
  • Prepares and positions patient for examinations and treatments.
  • The nurse shall provide patients with the utmost care and attention. All patients shall be assured of their privacy and personal dignity.

Registered Nurse (RN) Occupational Health position Requirements:

  • RN License: active, unrestricted. Any U.S. state honored.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Computer Competency (Microsoft applications, Outlook, internet, operations, et al)
  • Graduate from a national accredited nursing program
  • RN License: active, unrestricted. Any U.S. state.
  • 1 year experience as a RN

Preferred:

  • Certification in medication administration and immunizations
  • NIOSH spirometry certification (training from an accrediated, OSHA approved program)
  • Certification in Hearing Conservation - Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC)
  • Occ Health clinic experience for 12 months within the past 36 months
