THE ROLE YOU WILL PLAY:

The Inpatient Oncology RN is responsible for providing safe, effective care to the Adult Oncology patients within the unit. This 20-bed inpatient oncology unit sees both solid and liquid tumor patients at varying levels of acuity. There are no-vented patients on the unit however, you will see Bone Marrow Transplant patients, individuals on clinical trials and some who are admitted as a precaution. The nurse:patient ratios differ depending on the acuity level of the patient load for that day. This is a (3) 12s, night shift position with rotating weekends.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Provide compassionate, safe and quality care to patients on the unit
  • Administer Chemotherapeutic Agents
  • Monitor patients for adverse drug affects and/or worsening conditions
  • Educate family and patients on condition (when applicable)
  • Collaborate with Physicians, Advanced Practice Providers and Clinical Leaders on patient’s care.
  • Due to the varying degree of acuity, you may have to respond to oncologic emergencies, assess patients and determine best course of action quickly.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1+ years of experience within oncology (1 year past clinicals) preferred. If you do not have experience within Oncology, hospital will consider someone with a minimum of 2 years of nursing experience within critical care medicine.
  • ONS Chemotherapy / Biotherapy Certification preferred. Must be willing to obtain as soon as eligible.
  • BSN required.
  • Current RN license within the State of California (or eligible to obtain CA License upon hire)
  • OCN or BMT-CN Certification preferred.
