Description

Provides professional nursing care for the comfort and well-being of patients. Prepares equipment and assists physician during examinations and treatments. Administers prescribed medications, changes dressings, cleans wounds, and monitors patient vital signs. Observes and maintains records on patient care, condition, reaction, and progress.

The Med/Surg Respiratory unit is a 33-bed unit that provides exceptional care for patients with chest tubes, tracheostomies, infections, COPD, pneumonia and other respiratory disorders. We also care for general medical surgical patients. The mix of patients on this floor make it a great starting point for nurses in our Residency Program and for nurses who wish to become Certified in Medical Surgical Nursing and work at the top of their license with this population of rewarding patients. Our team is excited to transition into our state of the art hospital currently under construction where we will have a brand new unit. Currently under development is our 3 East Unit Based Council. We value the voice of our team and encourage participation in Shared Governance. The patient to nurse ratio on this unit is 5 or 6:1. Requirements

A. Education/Skills

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Able to assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care

B. Experience

  • One-year experience in nursing preferred.

C. Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

  • Current Texas State RN License
  • CPR (American Heart Association)
