(Archived) Medical Surgical RN

Job Duties

·Performs complete and accurate nursing assessment on assigned patients.

·Completes Valuables form at time of admission. Identifies changes in patient condition and reports to the physician and/or Supervisor unit/primary nurse for patient.

·Reports assessment and care details to primary nurse/unit supervisor before admitting next patient.

·Priorities of care are established and based on presenting medical history, past medical history, nursing observations and assessments.

License/Certification

License to practice as a Registered Nurse in Texas

BLS Certification

Education

Required: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

Preferred: Completion of or actively pursuing a BSN degree.

Here is the scheduling for most of our nurses (OR is not included in this):

Usually they work a rotation of a 2 week pattern that goes mon, tues, fri, sat, sun, wed, thurs. and repeats every 2 weeks.

The shifts on the stroke unit are 12 hours. 7-7 and there is a requirement to work every other weekend
