Registered Nurse (RN) - Behavioral Health Job Overview:

  • Collaborate and integrate with members of the BHIP-MHP team, MHP team, other departments, and other directorates to achieve optimal care for the patient in the BHIP-MHP model.

  • Liaise between health care providers, MHP nursing staff, health benefits advisors, health care finders, discharge planners, ambulatory and inpatient care managers, population health nurses, and clinic management, thereby providing continuity of care and minimizing fragmentation in the delivery of services.

  • Track patients with depression and/or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and develop a system to track patient participation and outcomes. Services may also be offered for certain patients with numerous medical and or psychosocial concerns that may not include depression or PSTD. Services shall be provided to a full spectrum of patient populations from pediatric to adults.

  • Assist primary care manager (PCM) in implementing best-practice guidelines for high-frequency conditions such as depression, common chronic disease management, and behavioral health and wellness support, coordinate acute-care management with MHP team; and use empirically validated screening tools.

  • Follow up with patients referred by the PCM or Internal Behavioral Health Consultant (IBHC) and focus on patient progress in PCM treatment adherence.

  • Participate in screening processes developed by the IBHC and PCM to improve the recognition of and appropriate interventions for depression and PTSD.

  • Provide and teach curriculum content for classes that promote education and skill-building to enhance enrollee population psychological and physical health.

  • Raise awareness about behavioral health issues and care facilitator services in MHP practice area to promote easy referral of patients.

Registered Nurse (RN) Job Qualifications:

  • BLS
  • RN Licensure: Current, full, active and unrestricted license. Any U.S. state
    1 year outpatient experience as an ambulatory care nurse within the past two years
  • Experience providing psychiatric nursing, behavioral health, and/or wellness counseling
  • Associates Degree of Nursing

  • Graduate from a college or university accredited by National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC), or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
