Requirements:
  • 1 year current clinical experience in required specialty in hospital setting - Required
  • BSN - Required
  • Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons
  • Acquire any/all required certifications for specialty within 3-6 months of start
  • Iowa license (Compact Allowed)
  • BLS (AHA)

Responsibilities:
  • Assumes primaryresponsibility for the plan of care for a patient or group of patients, perunit standards and nursing care required for the specified patient population.
  • Effectively delegatestasks and responsibilities to other health care team members and assumesresponsibility for follow-up and collaboration.
  • Performs admissionassessment process per specific department standards to include patienthistory, physical, and psycho-social assessment. Utilizes physical assessment data, diagnosticdata (lab, radiology, diagnostic testing), pharmacological information andpatient/family perceptions in formulating nursing diagnosis related to focusproblem areas and identifying goals of care.
  • Assumes responsibilityfor developing a plan of care that is mutually established with the patient andfamily. Each patient is treated as anindividual, with their identified goals and expectations reviewed each shift toverify priorities.
  • Implements the plan ofcare according to current standards of nursing practice, evidence-basedpractice, and hospital protocol/procedures.
  • Integratesmultidisciplinary approach to maintain comfort, support human functions andresponses, and maintain an environment conductive to safety andwell-being. Implements measures to promotea safe environment.
  • Partners withhealthcare team to achieve the patient care outcomes and goals of care.
  • Administers medicationsand nursing treatments within scope of practice.
