Primary Care/Family Medicine/IM Locum Need for 1 weeks a month in Ketchikan, Alaska (AK)

Sumo Medical Staffing is recruiting for an experienced Family Medicine Physician (MD/DO) to work locum shifts in Ketchikan, Alaska (AK). Starting January 4, 2027, through May 6, 2027, with a possible extension, this role offers approximately one week per month of outpatient coverage. Internal Medicine physicians will also be considered, particularly those able to see pediatric patients.

The Family Medicine/Primary Care role:

Location: Ketchikan, Alaska (AK)

Start date: January 4, 2027 on-going for approx 1 week a month, dates TBD

Schedule: Approximately one week per month, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

Call: No call

Practice Details:

• Outpatient coverage for gaps and provider PTO
• All ages; approximately 16–18 patients per day
• Solo provider role
• Optional opportunity to cover occasional PTO dates at a nearby island clinic; please indicate your willingness when submitting
• EMR: Epic

Desired Skills / Procedures:

No procedures are required. Preferred skills include:

• Skin excisions and punch biopsies
• Nexplanon and IUD procedures
• Cryotherapy
• Toenail avulsions

Requirements:

• Board Certified Family Medicine physician; Internal Medicine physicians also considered, particularly those able to see children
• Seeking approximately 3.5–5 years of experience due to patient acuity
• Active Alaska license highly preferred; candidates willing to obtain licensure must move quickly on the application and follow-up requirements
• BLS certification from AHA
• Documentation demonstrating involvement as an admitting physician for at least 20 patients during the previous two years
