Registered Nurse Case Manager (Specialty Surgery)
Contract | 13 Weeks
Position Summary
The Ambulatory Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care in an outpatient clinic setting, supporting individuals and families across the continuum of care. The RN utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care; administer medications and treatments; perform clinical procedures; and provide patient education and care coordination in collaboration with providers and interdisciplinary teams.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to deliver culturally responsive care in a fast-paced ambulatory environment.
Schedule
- Duration: 13 Weeks
- Shift: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Start Date: 10/12/2026
Requirements
- Active Alaska RN License required at the time of submission
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Bachelor's Degree preferred
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience
- BLS/BCLS Certification required
- Case Management Certification preferred
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans
- Implement and evaluate nursing interventions
- Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
- Recognize changes in patient conditions and initiate appropriate interventions
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions
- Deliver patient-centered and culturally responsive care
Clinical Judgment & Decision Making
- Perform and interpret comprehensive patient assessments
- Exercise independent nursing judgment in prioritizing patient care
- Develop, implement, and revise nursing care plans
- Integrate ethical principles, safety standards, and regulatory requirements into patient care
- Maintain accountability for nursing decisions and delegated responsibilities
Care Coordination & Documentation
- Collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary teams
- Coordinate referrals and follow-up care
- Maintain accurate and timely EMR documentation
- Assist patients in navigating healthcare services
Quality & Compliance
- Adhere to nursing practice standards and infection prevention protocols
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives
- Maintain required competencies and certifications
- Report adverse events and safety concerns according to policy
Professional Practice
- Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and teamwork
- Provide guidance to support staff when appropriate
- Assist with staff orientation and mentoring
- Float to other assignments as needed

- Travelers must reside at least 100 miles from the assigned work location.
