(Archived) Correctional Medicine Music Therapist/Rehab Specialist Needed in Bridgewater, MA

Our Rehabilitation Specialist II, Music Therapist utilizes music and music therapy to guide Persons Served with mental and emotional disabilities through their treatment; Provides an avenue through which Persons Served can communicate ideas, thoughts or feelings; Provides music and music therapy to all populations and Town Center Programs; Utilizes Music Assessments to assess Persons Served and provides feedback for monthly team meetings; Participates in hospital/community related Music Projects; Assists Persons Served in development of hospital wide chorus, plays, etc..; Participates in unit and hospital wide special events, holidays, etc..

Education:

• Bachelor Degree in Music Therapy from an accredited college or university
• Prefer Master Degree

Experience:

• At least two (2) years of post- graduate experience in a role using music to promote engagement in a psychiatric or an adult mental health inpatient facility necessary
• Must be experienced in clinical record documentation, treatment team participation, and be able to serve as an advocate to persons served
• Prefer four (4) years of related experience providing music therapy under supervision

Licenses/Certifications:

• None required

1. Music Therapy Leisure Skills Assessment: Documents Music/Leisure Skills of P/S through interview and observation of P/S. Re-assess P/S to determine changes. Report to Team members through notes and Team meetings.
2. Music Therapy Recreational Skills Assessment: Brings both Music/recreational skills (I.e. exercise, physical games for hand eye coordination). Facilitates higher functioning music activities for all patients (i.e. 1:1, groups).
3. Music Therapy Documentation Assessment: Completes documentation within a specified time frame. (I.e. s, New admission assessments & Discharges Notes.)
4. Music Therapy Social Skills Activities: Participates in the planning of Musical special events (chorus, plays, etc.). Assessing activities for potential dangers and modifying such activities or programs to maintain safety according to the hospital's standards.
5. Team Work: Works well with all departments and programs to meet the needs of patients.
6. Cultural Competency: Is sensitive to cultural diversity issues, treats patients as an individual, and considers the culture of the patients when providing care and treatment.
7. Age Specific Competency: Is knowledgeable about care and treatment needs of patients of different ages. Provides individualized care and treatment that is consistent with/sensitive to the age and life span developmental needs of each patient.
8. Must be able to apply principles of critical thinking to a variety of practical and emergent situations and accurately follow standardized procedures that may call for deviations.
9. Must be able to apply sound judgment beyond a specific set of instructions and apply knowledge to different factual situations.
10. Must be alert at all times; pay close attention to details.
11. Must be able to work under stress on a regular or continuous basis.
12. Perform other duties as assigned.
