Responsibilities:

  • Initiate the admission process and assist with the identification of recurrent health problems, symptoms and behavioral changes of an inmates. Collect pertinent data through observation, interviews, other members of the health team, and communicate changes in an inmate's condition to other inmate care providers. Record all data obtained through assessment in the inmate's medical record.

  • Assist in the formation of a written plan, identify both short-term and long-term measurable goals, anticipating behavioral changes. Assist in setting priorities when planning care to meet the inmate's needs. Assist with inmate healthcare.

  • Assists physician in minor medical/surgical procedures. Transcribes and posts all therapeutic orders generated by the physician. Administers routine and/or PRN medications as ordered.

  • Initiates and documents prescribed treatments for nursing interventions in compliance with policy and procedure.

  • Keeps health team informed of observations and changing conditions of inmates.

  • Counts CDs drugs and contraband, if requested.

  • Practices universal precautions when providing nursing procedures.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:
  • Graduate from a Licensed Practical Nursing program.

  • Currently licensed as a Practical Nurse in the state of desired employment.

  • CPR certification.

A background check, security clearance and drug screening are required for this role.
