Position Summary
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides quality nursing care to patients of all ages in an outpatient setting, respecting patient rights and dignity. As a vital member of the nursing team, the LPN works within their scope of practice and may assist with stocking rooms, completing checklists, and ordering medical supplies. While not a first responder, the LPN may screen calls and assist mid-level providers after hours as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver patient-centered nursing care in accordance with Alaska state regulations and facility policies.
- Apply age-specific and culturally sensitive care to a diverse patient population, from birth to elderly.
- Collaborate with Health Aides and other staff to ensure exam rooms are stocked and ready.
- Assist with ordering and managing medical supplies.
- Screen patient calls and provide guidance as appropriate.
- Support mid-level providers in the clinic after hours as needed.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in patient records.
- Utilize medical equipment and office machines as appropriate.
- Demonstrate knowledge of medical terminology and psychiatric patient care.
- Uphold patient confidentiality and support the mission of Yukon Kuskokwim Health Corporation.
Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited LPN/LVN program.
- Licensed as an LPN in the State of Alaska, in good standing.
- New graduates accepted; preferred one year of hospital experience.
- Current BLS/CPR certification required.
- IV certification course preferred.
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification preferred.
- Must be able to pass and maintain competencies for the position.
- Knowledge of medical and psychiatric patient care.
- Ability to work effectively in a patient care setting and as part of a team.
